We help you bring your game to the table

Designing a tabletop role-playing game means solving a lot of different problems: rules, setting, playtesting, art, layout and, most importantly, making all those parts work together.

At The Company Studio, we work with independent creators and small studios to develop, finish or improve their projects.

We can take on a specific task or join you for a broader stage of development.

And if what you need is advice, feedback or people to work with, we also maintain free communities for creators, where you can share your project, ask questions and find collaborators.

Services

Game design and development

We design new systems and help improve rules that already exist.

We can work on a specific mechanic or take part in the broader development of the game: character creation, progression, combat, probabilities, balance, resources and any other area that needs attention.

We design rules that work consistently and support the experience, tone and decisions each game offers.

Narrative and worldbuilding

We create and develop settings, adventures, factions, characters and other material meant to be used directly at the table.

We can also work with an existing setting to organize it, find contradictions, strengthen its core ideas and connect the fiction more closely to the mechanics.

We develop settings for play, with clear information, elements players can explore and practical ways for players and game masters to engage with the world.

Layout and print preparation

We design and lay out core books, supplements, zines, cards, character sheets and other materials for digital publication or print.

We work on information structure, typography, tables, navigation, illustration placement and the technical requirements of the final format.

We can deliver both finished files and the editable project files.

We work in Spanish, English and bilingual editions.

Professional playtesting

We organize playtests in English and Spanish together with Mesas Roleras, selected game masters and players from different countries.

We can test anything from a single mechanic or adventure to short campaigns and complete games.

We handle session organization and gather information that is useful for development. Depending on what the project needs, the service can include rules reading, feedback from players and game masters, reports with observations and practical recommendations, recordings, transcripts or questionnaires designed specifically for the test.

Each playtest focuses on specific development questions and produces useful information about rules, pacing, clarity, balance or the play experience.

Art direction and artist coordination

Art direction helps each illustration support the game's visual identity and work within the final publication.

We provide art direction and artist coordination for individual pieces or complete projects.

We work with artists who regularly collaborate with The Company Studio, and we can also coordinate with professionals chosen by the client. We help define the project's visual language, prepare references and briefs, request quotes, organize feedback and follow each piece through to its final integration into the game.

Human artists carry that process from the initial brief through final integration, keeping the visual identity consistent across the project.

Client feedback

Rodrigo and his team did a fantastic job creating template for my TTRPG project. He was thoughtful, responsive, and clearly paid attention to how the book would actually be used, building in flexible table layouts, space for quotes, and other details specific to the project. He was also very helpful troubleshooting any issues I ran into well after the project concluded. I’m very happy with the work and would absolutely recommend him and his team!
